Hearing Is Believing-Hiring Disc Jockey

Many "How to use an article" Disc Jockey overlook one of the most important criteria for the choice of entertainment. His ears.

Forget finding a business license (anyone can have one), or approval of some from afar, "official" DJ association. Mail your payment and will support you too.

If the artist is "certified" on paper or not, how your system sounds is critical. Most DJs are not experts in the technical field of sound specifications. They can not even know what relationship signal to noise ratio, total harmonic distortion or frequency response is. The truth is that DJs often set up a sound system that is limited by the amount they can spend. The resulting sound can be loud (top too), unclear or "muddy" and even distorted.

This is where your ears Request a hearing to enter so you can live Gage for himself how the DJ's equipment looks and sounds. Always offer a live listening experience to our customers. This is the only way to know if you like. If the DJ is not willing to "audition" for you, it may be because you're embarrassed by the appearance or quality of audio from your rig. This is a red flag.

Ask your potential DJ play a song I know. Think that includes bass, drums, keyboards and vocals so you can get a wide range of sounds. Dance songs are usually good. Ask the DJ to turn for a moment. Now close your eyes and listen.

You do not have to be an acoustics expert to know if you like. Is it full hot or hollow and "tinny". Sound like an AM or more like it that play in a movie theater? It is the combination of "determination" but not overwhelming, leaving room for the midrange and treble? Peaks are too strident, what dogs howl and cry babys? They are mid-range (vocals) have enough? Is there a general sound level or "depth"?

Remember, this is what you and your guests will be hearing all night.

While the sound can improve the use of equalizers and enhancers Sonic, right speakers are key. Whether it's JBL, Yamaha, Mackie or others, the speakers have their own sound characteristics. And off the brand, budget speakers are often lacking sound quality.

Ask the DJ why he chose the speakers you have. Often, Great Sound, brand speakers are not much more expensive than low range budget cabinets. If the DJ is spared here to save a few bucks, what else is that they cut corners?

I personally like "hiss" brass or the sounds of cymbals (high) or too low end (bass). For me, the midrange is where the melody and I like to hear. Full and warm voice, keyboards and guitar with the ups and downs that acts as complimentary bookends. For example, I'd rather hear emphasis on the voice of Sinatra in his bass.

Now go get the sound you want. Already an expert like you've been listening all your life. Earwork Make a little and feel safe as their event approaches, knowing of your guests will experience the satisfaction of Sonic Complete!
