How should I stand when I sang in the choir / solo work?
I am a mezzo-soprano who has taken some voice lessons, but I'm trying find out how I should stand up when I sing for most of my range and tone. For example, I'm trying to keep your back straight, and no " Lead with your chin "as my singing teacher I say, that the flow of sound through my head, keep your shoulders back, etc. I tried putting my right foot foward and slightly bending the knee and the deepening of the curve in my lower back (ie to just push my tush). Sing proper posture, from the toes to: * One foot slightly in front of the other, feet comfortably apart for good balance * weight forward on toes, heels on the floor, knees relaxed and flexible * * * Buttocks tucked under the chest (sternum) lifted up and spread worldwide * A sense of the ribs up from the waist * Shoulders relaxed, as if hanging from a coat hanger * neck relaxed head capable of moving freely * * Head level remains chin parallel to the floor, or raised or lowered Good luck.
