Although much of England and Wales has been battered by torrential rains, causing waves of floods, Scotland – not normally renowned for great weather – has escaped completely to the severe rains and has enjoyed a particularly dry summer that their Southern counterparts.
Each year between July and September, Edinburgh hosts the largest festival of the arts in the world, drawing crowds from all over the world to enjoy an eclectic collection of culture, music, movies, books and comedy in the program through various parts of the city. Commonly referred to as the Edinburgh Festival, the event is actually a collection of discrete festivals, including Fringe Festival, the Edinburgh Film Festival and the Edinburgh Book Festival among many others. Although the vast majority of performers at the Festival Edinburgh, amateur artists and students, some of the biggest names in comedy today the UK theatrical and performance attributes circuits Festival Edinburgh and help make their advance into the public eye.
