Mouthpiece Ligature

Mouthpiece Ligature
How long does it take to get used to a new clarinet?

I just got a Buffet E11 (which used to have a Yamaha YCL-250) and I'm screaming much more than usual (using the same mouthpiece and ligature as I did with my Yamaha) what is the deal? How long does it take to get used to a new clarinet?

after getting a new clarinet takes atleast a month to get used to it, but the more you play it the best in sound is back and with a buffet needs more air your probly used to get a good sound to try to use more air and if that doesn't work just keep at it bcause probly as you can play any instrument takes hard work and detication ps check your cane if you have not already if your chip that can be the cause of hope helped her squeak (^:

The purchase of a new instrument

There are many places to collect information regarding your purchase, your teacher has a wealth of knowledge, he / she may recommend a particular brand or model.

Our shop local music can lead to a new / used online from the band instruments. If this is the case, ask to try as many as you can, not all instruments are equal!

If the instrument feels good with his fingers, ask if you can show your teacher before agreeing to make the final purchase.

And finally, the best place to buy is in a band / orchestra specialty store. Your questions will be answered by people with knowledge and as a bonus you do not hear any stinging guitar solo at the bottom!

Questions to ask before you buy:

  • Is there a trial period?
  • The instrument has been "created" from the factory?
  • Is there a guarantee, and if there is "shop" or a manufacturer's warrantee?
  • Ask about shipping data
  • When the instrument is far from repair, which offer a loan?
  • Spare parts are available for the instrument? There are many affordable "in the instruments of the coast" found in local music stores but if you have to repair the instrument, the availability of spare parts can be difficult.
  • Does the tool comes with a cleaning kit, and all the accessories needed to keep your instrument in good shape?
  • What is the return policy in case they wish to return the instrument?
  • Does the store offer repair services at home, or they send out your instrument? This is your opportunity to develop a dialogue with a repair technician. The further to the repair technician known about the relationship he has with his instrument, the better he / she can help with the mechanical adjustments.

Buying an Instrument used

Not all the instruments used are in "excellent" or "PC" game conditions. If you decide to buy an instrument used, the factor in a trip to your local repair technician for a checkup and cleaning.

  • Is it clean?
  • Who played?
  • When you played last?
  • Where buy it?
  • What was the original price?
  • Who repairs?
  • Why sell?

Things look:

  • Check the status of the case. If the case is clean and free of damage, it is likely that the instrument has been well cared for.
  • Avoid foul smelling instruments cases they may have been in a flood.
  • Inspect pads for torn or title = "pad Ripped"> fuzzy edges – this is an indication of the instrument is in need of service.

The marriage of music and mechanics

About the Author:

Marriage of Music and Mechanics

First let me start by saying that Joe Piccolo is really my name…no kidding!

Music

My passion for music began in elementary school, continuing through my Marching Band days in the saxophone section, and into my studies at the University of Windsor.

As a student, teacher, “gigging” and touring musician for over two decades, I appreciate and understand the needs of musicians and teachers alike.

Creative and precise attention to detail, tolerance, and mechanics have been garnered from a decade working in the automotive tooling industry.
Discipline gained from working in the tooling industry has created a work ethic that dictates that work is not completed until it’s within the exact tolerance for that instrument and customer.
